As we all know, the Far Cry 6 action-adventure FPS game, that takes place on an island called Yara. The core gameplay is quite similar to the previous Far Cry titles, with some new additions here and there. The world of Far Cry 6 is the biggest one yet. You take the role of a Yaran armed forces officer called Ddani Rojas. You do get the freedom of choosing the gender of your character at the start of the game.

Check System Requirements

  • Graphics: AMD RX VEGA64 (8 GB) / Nvidia GTX 1080 (8 GB) or higher
  • Storage: 60 GB HDD (SDD Recommended) + 37 GB HD Textures (optional)
  • DirectX: DirectX 12

Run your game as admin

In case lacking administrative privileges cause your Far Cry 6 not to start, we recommend that you run the game executable file and game launcher (Ubisoft Connect / Epic Games Launcher) as an administrator.

  • Close any game-related apps. Then Right-click your Ubisoft Connect and select Properties.
  • Go to the Compatibility tab and
  • Click Apply > OK.
  • Also, repeat steps 1~2 for the Far Cry.exe file.

Clear Ubisoft Cache

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher

Now, delete the Cache folder.

Change In-game settings

If your computer is on the borderline of being incompatible, then you may have to disable some of the In-game settings, so that, they don’t put a lot of pressure on your GPU.

  • Open Ubisoft Connect.
  • Open its Settings.
  • Under the General tab, untick  Enable in-game overlay for supported games and Display FPS counter in game.

Close unnecessary apps

Running another app, especially demanding apps such as Chrome, Discord, etc alongside the game can result in it freezing and even crashing. So, open Task Manager and close all the running processes and then open the game.

Update your Windows

Having an outdated OS can cause a lot of compatibility issues which could be the root cause of the crashes. Additionally, Far Cry 6 has Windows 10 64-bit (20H1) or better as a minimum requirement otherwise it can’t run.

Thus, having up-to-date windows at least build (20H1) is crucial for preventing crashes to desktops.

Reinstall Far Cry 6
