What is the REFACE PC app?
The trends on the Internet change on a daily basis. From time and then we have many new trends doing rounds on social media with people from all around the world picking the trends and following them. Now at the recent, the internet is obsessed with the Reface App. From Instagram to TikTok, social media has been flooded with videos from Doublicat / REFACE for PC, a new app that allows users to place their faces onto the image of someone in an existing GIF or video.
The app collects information from a photo to analyze your facial features and then places those on the heads of celebrities, movie scenes, and other content. It collects “facial feature data separately from your photos” in order to provide the core service of the app, but the company “does not use your photos and facial features for any reason other than to provide you with the face-swapping functionality of Reface.”
How does it Work?
Reface for Windows app works just like other face-swapper programs: you need to record your appearance with a selfie. As such, when you first launch the app, it will ask for your permission to use the camera—reassuring that your face data will only be used for its services. You can immediately take a generic selfie using the oval face marker on the screen and start using that as your face template.
The main (and most shareable) draw is the range of available film clips in the main feed. These take big franchises like Marvel, Harry Potter, and Pirates of the Caribbean, and stitch your face onto the lead character in a number of famous scenes, ready to show the world.
It really is quite remarkable, terrifying, and creepy. The app manages to make your inanimate face capture move and contort in the same way as the video it’s been placed on top of. Welcome to the future.
What will it cost you?
The main page of the app has a GIF and short video clip content that you can use. These can range from celebrities of the music and film industry to meme GIFs that came from viral videos. However, these aren’t all free. You get a trial period of 3 days but some GIFs will require you to either get the premium subscription or watch an ad. The app offers two subscription plans: monthly and annual.
The paid subscription for the Reface app will give users a significantly better app experience compared to free users. There are three types of payment plans available for those that are interested in the Pro version of the application:
- $2.49 USD for one week
- $3.99 USD for one month
- $24.99 USD for one year
Pro users will experience the benefit of removing in-app advertisements and a wider range of face swap functionality. Free users can experience these for a limited timeframe of about 30 minutes before they will be asked about upgrading their plan to a paid option.
